AI headshot workflow

Another hiatus, another round of observations, realization(s) and questions. Some jabber on the matter:

• AI headshot services abound. A few make it their core offering, the rest embed it as a feature in their lineup of tricks. Which one is it really and in what context?

• I don't see many people in my circles, or their fringes, using them on their professional pages. Actually, aside from half a handful, everyone else is sticking to real pictures, regardless of quality or context.

• Anecdotally speaking, this seems to be in direct contradiction with all these services claiming to have served millions or catering to x or y large entreprises. Their numbers are glowing, their reviews scarce, and their output surprisingly invisible. Why the cooking numbers? Scams? Grifts? Hype surfers?

• And if the field was so ripe and the demand was so there, where... is everyone? BTW, comment below if you know people or seen profiles using ai headshots please!

• On an individual level, what stops people from getting their headshots done if things like friction or budgets were so drastically trimmed off?

• On an entreprise level, what hinders their adoption, or what kind of bigger solution can they be inscribed in?

• I must stop stressing on building it as a solution to a problem I have yet to identify. It’s a waste of time. It’s a ... fun waste of time.

• Which means i don’t necessarily want to stop working on it because it produces some joy, and experience, and knowledge, and could benefit some people. But i don’t want to end up losing myself completely in it to the point of missing out on bigger issues to tackle. Or worse, connecting with people altogether.

• I’d like to be more transparent, more giving and more receptive. Maybe I could share my workflows at every major milestones and involve others in pitching their findings or thoughts? Maybe I could start thinking of a basic user interface and automated process to gather user feedback and learn directly from them?
